1. Xi Jinping, Kim Jong Un hold talks in Beijing

Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Chinese president, held a welcome ceremony for Kim Jong Un, chairman of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK Tuesday afternoon at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

The two leaders had a candid and in-depth exchange of views on the current development of China-DPRK relations and the situation on the Korean Peninsula.

The Chinese leader said Kim's visit to China shows that the DPRK highly values the strategic communication between the two sides.

President Xi stressed that his three meetings with Kim within three months showed the direction for the development of the relations between the two parties and the two countries and opened a new chapter in the development of China-DPRK relations.

Kim told Xi that he "felt thankful for and highly praised China's promotion of the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and its important role in protecting the Peninsula's peace and stability.” (Xinhua – CGTN)

习近平同朝鲜劳动党委员长金正恩举行会谈

中共中央总书记、国家主席习近平6月19日同当日抵京对中国进行访问的朝鲜劳动党委员长、国务委员会委员长金正恩举行会谈。

两国领导人就当前中朝关系发展和朝鲜半岛局势坦诚深入交换了意见。

习近平指出，金正恩委员长同志专程来华访问，体现了对中朝两党两国战略沟通的高度重视，我对此高度评价。

习近平强调，在不到3个月时间内，我同委员长同志3次会晤，为两党两国关系发展指明了方向，开启了中朝关系发展新篇章。

金正恩表示，朝方感谢并高度评价中方在推动半岛无核化、维护半岛和平稳定方面发挥的重要作用。

2. China vows strong trade countermeasures

A spokesperson with China's Ministry of Commerce (MOC) said Tuesday if the US loses its rationale and unveils another list of tariffs on Chinese goods, then China will have no choice but to take comprehensive measures both quantitative and qualitative to strike back.

On Monday, Trump directed the US Trade Representative to identify $200 billion worth of Chinese goods for additional tariffs at 10 percent.

“The trade war waged by the United States is against both the law of the market and the development trend of today' s world. It undermines the interests of the Chinese and American people, the interests of companies, and the interests of the people all over the world," said the spokesperson. (Xinhua – People’s Daily app)

中国商务部新闻发言人对美白宫6月18日关税声明发表谈话

美方在推出500亿美元征税清单之后，又变本加厉，威胁将制定2000亿美元征税清单。

6月19日，中国商务部新闻发言人对美白宫新关税声明发表谈话。谈话指出：如果美方失去理性、出台清单，中方将不得不采取数量型和质量型相结合的综合措施，做出强有力反制。

商务部发言人表示，美方发起贸易战，违背市场规律，不符合当今世界发展潮流，伤害中美两国人民和企业利益，也伤害了全世界人民利益。

3. Petersberg Climate Dialogue ends, Germany fails to reach climate goal

The ninth Petersberg Climate Dialogue ended on Tuesday in Berlin with an air of uncertainty as Germany’s government touted the success and importance of the Paris climate agreement, yet also announced that it failed to reach its 2020 climate change goals.

The event was attended by German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, and representatives from 35 countries to speak about climate change and preparations for a United Nations climate summit in December.

Merkel reiterated her position on the importance of climate change, saying that the Paris Agreement was a big success and that the world must work together to achieve its historic goals. (People’s Daily app)

第9届彼得斯堡气候对话论坛落幕 德国2020年恐难达标

第9届彼得斯堡气候对话论坛6月19日在德国柏林落幕。作为巴黎气候协定最坚定的支持者之一，德国政府宣布将不能如期完成2020年气候变化指标。为该论坛在解决全球气候问题上的作用平添了不确定因素。

参加此次论坛的有德国总理默克尔、波兰总理莫拉维茨基、以及来自35个其他国家的代表。各国代表谈论了和全球季候变化相关的问题，并将为今年12月份举行的联合国气候变化大会做准备。

默克尔在讲话中表示，德国高度重视全球气候变化趋势。全球各国应共同努力，实现2015《巴黎协定》的确定目标。

4. China’s box office expected to surpass 60 billion yuan

China’s box office revenues are expected to go beyond 60 billion yuan this year, said Zhang Pimin, chairman of China Film Foundation, at the 2nd China Film & TV Leaders Summit on Monday.

Ever since China began accelerating development of its film industry in 2002, annual box office revenue has grown from less than one billion to 57 billion yuan in 2017.

In the first quarter of 2018, China’s box office revenue had already overtaken North America, Financial Times reported.

Zhang welcomed filmmakers with warm-hearted cultural observations and imagination to join, as well as the further opening-up in the new era of the Chinese film industry. (Xinhua – People’s Daily app)

2018年中国国内票房有望破600亿元人民币

6月18日，第二届中国影视领袖峰会在上海举行。

中国电影基金会理事长张丕民在主旨演讲中指出，今年中国的电影票房有望突破600亿元人民币。

张丕民表示，在党的十六大以后，明确确立了中国电影产业的定位以后，中国电影进入了一个加速度的发展阶段。电影票房从2002年的不足10亿元的票房，到去年票房总数达到570亿元人民币。

据英国《金融时报》报道，2018年第一季度，中国票房市场已经超过北美。

张丕民说，中国电影市场欢迎有热情和情怀的投资人投入到中国电影事业的新时代发展当中。

5. Chinese researchers discover key gene can affect woman's fertility

Chinese researchers have discovered that a gene known as Mechanistic Target of Rapamycin or MTOR, plays a key role in the ability for women to release healthy eggs from their ovaries.

MTOR is recognized by scientists worldwide as an integrator of pathways which can turn genes on and off, or spur a cell to move.

It is also responsible for regulating cell growth, proliferation, and differentiation.

In experiments on mice, researchers at Nanjing Medical University tried to shut down the MTOR gene at all stages of egg cell development. They found that once the MTOR pathways were deactivated, female mice could not release healthy eggs, which led to infertility. (Xinhua – People’s Daily app)

中国科学家找到影响女性排卵受孕的“关键基因”

中国科学家近日研究发现，一种名为mtor的基因对女性能否排出正常健康的卵子起决定作用。

据悉，mtor基因能够“生产”一种关键因子MTOR，负责维持营养和应激感应的信号通路。同时MTOR也能控制细胞的增长、繁殖和变异。

南京医科大学研究人员尝试在雌鼠卵泡发育的各个阶段敲除mtor基因，发现一旦MTOR通路失活，雌鼠就不能排出健康的卵子，导致不孕。

6. Japan upsets Colombia, Senegal blasts Poland, Russia prevails over Egypt

In what is becoming a tournament of upsets, Group H is still up for grabs.

Colombia faced off with Japan and found themselves down a man by the third minute when a Carlos Sanchez hand ball led to a Shinji Kagawa penalty kick goal, putting Japan ahead 1-0.

The South American team responded with a free-kick from Juan Fernando Quintero for the equalizer before the half.

But Japan never lost its momentum as Yuya Osako sealed their victory with a header late in the second half.

At Spartak Stadium, Senegal became the first African team to claim a victory at this year’s tournament defeating Poland 1 to 2.

Before halftime, Senegal went ahead after midfielder Idrissa Gana Gueye's shot was deflected into the net by Poland’s Thiago Cionek for what was the tournament’s fourth own goal.

In the final match of the day, Russia defeated Egypt 3-1 in front of 64,000 soccer fans at St. Petersburg Stadium.

The host team’s sparkling second-half performance will see them advance to the knock-out stage for the first time in World Cup history. (People’s Daily app)

日本拿下小组首胜 俄罗斯出线在即

作为2018俄罗斯世界杯开赛最晚的一个小组，6月19日俄罗斯世界杯小组赛H组展开首轮较量。最终日本队2:1战胜哥伦比亚。

上半场开始仅3分钟，哥伦比亚球员桑切斯禁区内手球犯规被红牌罚下，日本队获得点球机会，香川真司主罚破门为日本队取得领先。随后金特罗任意球破门为哥伦比亚队扳平了比分。下半场大迫勇也头球破门，日本队再次将比分超出，最终日本队2-1击败哥伦比亚。

H组最后一场比赛在莫斯科斯巴达克体育场进行，塞内加尔最终2-1力克波兰全取3分，成为本届世界杯到目前为止首支获胜的非洲球队。上半场结束前，塞内加尔中场球员盖耶禁区前大力抽射，波兰队的西奥尼克伸脚解围不慎将球捅入自家大门。这也是本届世界杯迄今为止的第4粒乌龙球。

A组第二轮在圣彼得堡体育场展开争夺，东道主俄罗斯3-1击败埃及，取得两连胜。本场比赛现场观战的球迷数量达到6.4万人。

俄罗斯队下半场比赛连进三球拿下胜利，出线形势一片大好。这也让俄罗斯队有望首次跻身世界杯淘汰赛阶段。

7. US withdraws from UN Human Rights Council

The US withdrew from the United Nations Human Rights Council on Tuesday, with US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley saying that no other countries "had the courage to join our fight" to reform the "hypocritical and self-serving" body.

"In doing so, I want to make it crystal clear that this step is not a retreat from our human rights commitments," Haley said.

美国宣布退出联合国人权理事会

6月19日，美国驻联合国大使尼基·黑莉表示，美国将退出联合国人权理事会。

黑莉称，鉴于联合国人权理事会的独断和官僚作风，虽然没有其他国家的支持，美国仍然决定退出联合国人权理事会。

黑莉表示，此举并不意味着美国将会放弃对人权保护的承诺。
