Powell Crosley produced America’s first miniature car. The Crosley was a foot shorter and a 100 pounds lighter than the Volkswagen Beetle and far smaller than anything offered by American manufacturers. Unfortunately Crosley was never able to lower the price of his cars. His $800 price tag wasn’t low enough to convince consumers when they could by a full-size car for a few hundred dollars more.
1939年4月28日，鲍威尔·克罗斯利（Powell Crosley）生产了美国的第一辆微型汽车。克罗斯利汽车比大众甲壳虫短一英尺，轻100磅，远远小于美国制造商制造的任何产品。遗憾的是，克罗斯利未能降低其汽车的价格。800美元的售价还不足以说服消费者购买，因为他们只需再多花几百美元就能买到一辆全尺寸汽车。
