The intention is to be polite when we say "wait": 说 wait 时，我们的意图明明是礼貌的。

• 其实 wait 这个单词没问题，但不要作为一个句子使用。

When you say "wait" by itself, it really sounds like an order or a command for a dog: 当你把 wait 单独说出来，听起来像命令、像对狗狗的指令。

It also sounds impatient even if you say it nicely: 并且会给人不耐烦的感觉，即使你的语气是友好的。

怎么办？

• 很简单，wait 加些元素。

Wait a minute/second, please: 请稍等一下，这里 minute 和 second 不是说只有一分钟、一秒钟，意思就是短暂等待。

不用 wait 也很ok！
