We are excited to participate in this multi-journal special issue on gender equality as JAAL has always been a global forum to explore discourse and practices around literacies, learners, teachers, policies, and praxis. Gender is central to this purpose as is critically exploring dimensions of intersectionality in relation to equality and equity in adolescent and adult literacy education and research.
