It's actually a very special story.

When we first met, we became friends very very quickly.

A year into it, I really realized what a great guy he was.

Emily that struck me immediately when I first met her is that we both share a very intense intellectual curiosity to learn something new and different.

当我第一次见到艾米丽时，她深深打动了我，因为我们都有强烈的求知欲，想要学习一些新的和不同的东西。

You know, the different cultures and life...

就是不同的文化和生活。

We got married in October 2019.

我们是2019年10月结婚的。

We both really want to be the cultural bridge that we connect our country to the world.

我们都很想成为连接我们国家与世界的文化桥梁。

And so in that sense, we are two bridges, really trying to connect each other and then connecting US and China.

所以从这个意义上说，我们是两座桥梁，努力相互连接，然后连接中美两国。

We have so much desire to always be on the same page, and then sometimes there will be a cultural miscommunication.

我们非常希望始终保持一致，但有时会出现文化上的误解。

And it's funny that when we get to compare our own sort of miscommunications and misunderstandings and then get to see the current geopolitical affairs as well.

Because we are a cross cultural marriage, it's very important that we keep on working to understand where we come from.

From my personal life, it's very important that I develop a fluency in Chinese.

从我的个人生活来看，流利的中文对我来说非常重要。

My mother-in-law, she tailors the classes towards me.

我的婆婆为我量身定做了课程。

Besides, the Chinese class is kind of getting rid of some communication barriers that we had because of language differences.

此外，中文课也消除了我们因语言差异而存在的一些沟通障碍。

We've developed a lot of respect for each other.

我们彼此有了更多尊重。

Tian and I, when we first met, we really didn't share any hobbies.

我和艾天刚认识的时候真的没有什么共同爱好。

We shared an intellectual curiosity and we both love to travel, we both love to learn new things.

我们有着共同的求知欲，我们都喜欢旅行，我们都喜欢学习新事物。

We've been actively doing is learning about each other's interests, and that's been very very special.

我们一直在积极地了解彼此的兴趣，这非常非常特别。

And then we've recently taken up a dragon boat racing, which has been a lot of fun.

我们最近参加了龙舟比赛，非常有趣。

Our lives are very very full and I'm very grateful for that.

我们的生活非常非常充实，我特别感恩。

We have lovely friends, we have wonderful people in our social circles and that really makes life so much better.

我们有可爱的朋友，我们的社交圈里有很棒的人，这真的让生活变得更美好。

People always ask what do me and Tian eat at home.

人们总是问我和艾天在家里吃什么。

And for me I always like to make things that are reminiscent of my childhood.

对我来说，我喜欢做小时候常吃的一些食物。

So I always like to make things that bring back memories of home for me.

所以我总是喜欢做一些能让我想起家的东西。

And luckily Tian likes what I cook.

幸运的是艾天喜欢我做的东西。

A lot of times people in China or in US don't necessarily have the chance to see everyday life in the two countries from each other.

很多时候，中国人或美国人不一定有机会从对方身上看到两国的日常生活。

So through our own life we hope people can get to see how really just ordinary or typical life would be like in China and in US.

因此，通过我们自己的生活，我们希望人们能够了解中国和美国的普通或典型生活到底是怎样的。

So I think that's an important aspect we can contribute personally in helping bring better understanding,

所以我认为这是我们个人可以做出贡献的一个重要方面，有助于两国更好地彼此理解，

better close relationship between the two countries.

As for me, I feel quite fortunate to have the opportunity to study in China so that I can better understand how things operate here.

There's a lot of misperceptions, I think, on both sides and that's one of the things that we definitely attempt to,

at least within our circles and within our spheres of influence, we try to mitigate that as much as possible.
