Birth of “Pearl of the Desert”——construction records of the 10th of Ramadan Railway in Egypt

金色国度，古老埃及。盛夏7月，埃及第一条电气化铁路——斋月十日城铁路项目顺利通车试运行。铁路连接开罗与新行政首都，见证着中埃两个文明古国跨越千年的情谊。

In Egypt, a nation with an ancient civilization and vast desert, the first electrified railway — the 10th of Ramadan Railway was opened for trial operation in July. The railway connects Cairo with the New Administrative Capital, and also witnesses the millennium-old China-Egypt friendship.

砥砺前行，只争朝夕。从立项到通车，埃铁项目历经八载，成就“一带一路”上又一精品力作。

Guided by the principle of “forging ahead and seizing every minute”, the project becomes a new masterpiece under the Belt and Road Initiative after eight years of hard work from approval to its opening to traffic.

八年磨一剑。中国企业抱团“出海”，全产业链“走出去”，中国中铁、中航国际、深铁国际等20多家参建单位，超600位中方建设者在异国他乡挥洒热血，倾力付出。

Over the past eight years, Chinese companies jointly provided assistance abroad, and the whole industrial chain went global. More than 20 participating constructors including China Railway Group Limited, AVIC International Holding Corporation and Shezhen Metro, as well as over 600 Chinese constructors dedicated themselves to building the project in the foreign land.

车站方案，九易其稿。最终中铁二院用无可争议的设计实力，征服了埃及业主、监理；突破0到1，CBTC信号系统首秀埃及，保利华信、卡斯柯团队掀开了埃及轨道交通崭新的一页。

After the ninth revision of the design scheme of the station, China Railway Eryuan Engineering Group Co., Ltd. earned the recognition of the Egyptian owner and supervisors. The CBTC signal system made its debut in Egypt, and teams from China Huaxin Post and Telecom Technologies Co., Ltd. of China Poly Group and CASCO unveiled a new chapter in Egypt’s rail transit.

在联合体物流团队全程保驾护航下，中车四方“定制化”的电动车组驶进开罗，“青岛造”落地万里之遥的文明古国；2#主所送电成功、试运行成功，关键节点，深铁国际功不可没，更做好了后续运营服务和培训的充分准备……

With the support of the consortium’s logistics team, “customized” electric multiple units (EMUs) designed by CRRC Qingdao Sifang Co., Ltd found their way to Cairo, marking “made-in-Qingdao” EMUs’ entry to the ancient civilization tens of thousands miles away from China. In addition, Shenzhen Metro deserves all the credit for its contributions to key parts such as the power delivery and pilot run of the main substation, and it was also well prepared for the follow-up operation services and training.

八载寒与暑。工期紧，任务重，他们毫无怨言，通宵达旦抢时间；疫情危机，他们全然不惧，坚守一线保通车。

Through these eight years, despite a tight schedule and heavy tasks, they remained committed to building the railway without complaint and worked round the clock. Fearless as they are in the face of the pandemic, they always fought on the front lines to ensure the opening of the railway.

在中埃建设者的共同努力下，这条惠及500万埃及民众的铁路如期开通，这也是埃及政府践行“向东发展”国家战略、打造“东部经济走廊”的重点交通工程。

Thanks to the concerted efforts of both Chinese and Egyptian builders, the railway that delivers benefits to five million Egyptian people was opened as scheduled. It is also a key transportation project of the “Eastern Development” national strategy as well as the building of the “Eastern Development Corridor” of the Egyptian government.

建功海外，不负韶华。埃及斋月十日城铁路——这颗璀璨的“沙漠明珠”将在非洲广袤的大地上熠熠生辉。

The achievement made abroad is a fine testament to the collective efforts of all Chinese workers. The 10th of Ramadan Railway in Egypt — the brilliant “Pearl of Desert” will shine brightly in the land of Africa.
