好雨知时节，当春乃发生。

When it's warmer but still with a chill, the ice and snow melt, turning into clouds in the sky, and then the spring rain falls on mountains and rivers.

乍暖还寒之时，天地和同，联手“酿造”春雨，化作天地间的精灵，随风潜入世间万里山川。

On February 19th, Rain Water, the second solar term, arrives.

2月19日， “雨水”到了。

After Rain Water, people are waiting for swimming fish, flying wild geese, and sprouting trees.

雨水时节，一候獭祭鱼，二候鸿雁来，三候草木萌动。

Otters start to fish, bringing a message of the melting river; five days later, wild geese start to fly north, sending a letter of blooming flowers; in another five days, plants start to sprout. It may be the most beautiful time of spring.

水獭捕鱼，传来春江水暖的消息；五天后，大雁北飞，送去杏李满枝的花信；再过五天，草木吐芽、生机萌动，或许便是诗人心目中的“最是一年春好处”。

Spring rain falls, and everything flourishes. The bamboo, which has been holding back for a whole winter, after absorbing enough water, finally breaks through the ground.

春雨至，万物生。静候了一个冬季的竹子，也吸足了水分，破土而出。

春雨至，万物生，遵义市赤水市黎明村的竹林里，吸足了养分的竹笋破土而出。

Greens like toona sinensis and pea seedlings are seasonal tastes in spring for Guizhou people. But in Chishui, a county-level city in Guizhou, where the boundless sea of bamboo lies, people prefer the freshness buried deep in the soil.

树梢的香椿芽，轻盈的豌豆尖，都是贵州人尝春的“定番”。而坐拥连绵竹海的赤水人，更钟爱深埋泥土的鲜嫩。

竹海之中，炊烟袅袅

As one of the top ten bamboo towns in China, Chishui has been dubbed the "sea of bamboo in Southwest China" for there have grown more than 214,000 acres of bamboo forests on the sides of the Chishui River from 4 bamboo trees two hundred years ago.

作为中国十大竹乡之一，两百年前的4株楠竹如今长成了130万余亩的林海绿涛，奔涌在赤水河两岸的红土地上，赤水也因此被誉为“西南竹海”。

After a spring rain, Chishui people always flock to seek the bamboo shoots that break through the ground.

你看，一场雨后，和竹笋一起漫山遍野冒头的，可不就是这些“夺笋”的赤水人。

Chishui people know better how to cook bamboo shoots than pandas.

赤水人，可能比熊猫更懂吃笋。

Bamboo and bamboo shoots can be seen in every season. Chishui people grow bamboo and are well versed in it, and they're good at bringing out the best flavors of bamboo shoots harvested in different seasons. Peel away the rough outer leaves, take a bite, and you can feel the crisp and tender bamboo shoots melt in your mouth.

赤水四季有笋，四季有竹。种竹、懂竹、更会吃竹的赤水人将不同季节的笋激发出不同的风味。当粗糙外壳下脆嫩的笋肉在嘴里化开，鲜掉的眉毛化成了不争气的眼泪从嘴角流下。

Forging ahead, the diligent Chishui people have built the industry into big businesses. They now have a wide range of products made of bamboo, including daily necessities such as baskets, mats, and umbrellas; knitting handicrafts such as bags, paintings, and lamps; substitutes-for-plastic such as packaging bags, handbags, paper straws, and so on. From bamboo shoots to bamboo-made paper, from boosting the bamboo culture to launching carbon tickets, the bamboo industry chain in Chishui has been continuously extended, which helped develop the green economy and bring in a low-carbon life, showcasing the harmonious coexistence between man and nature.

而勤劳智慧的赤水人，又将一棵棵小小的竹子写成了一篇篇“大文章”。竹篓、竹席、雨伞等竹制生活用品，手工竹编包、竹丝编画、竹艺灯具等竹编工艺品，包装纸袋、手提袋、纸吸管等“以竹代塑”产品……从种竹卖笋到种竹造纸，到发展竹文化，再到将竹林中的空气变成竹林碳票，赤水竹产业链不断延伸，发展了绿色经济，带来了低碳生活，描绘出一幅人与自然和谐共生的生动画卷。

With the spring rain nourishing, the bamboo thrives. With hope in mind, people in Chishui can see the happiness on the way.

霏霏春雨下，竹林拔节生长。心怀希望，总有美好破土而出。
